Kindergarten Registration is a unique experience. A team of educators will provide pre-kindergarten screening activities to help parents assess their child's readiness for kindergarten. Kindergarten teachers, speech clinicians, and a school nurse will be present to assist parents. Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for April 19 and 20 at the Dell Rapids Elementary School. If your child will be 5 on or before September 1, 2007, you must contact Dell Rapids Elementary School to register your child for the next school year at 428-3192. It is important to notify the school before March 31, 2007 to ensure that there are proper student/teacher ratios and enough materials for your child.
As parents/guardians, you can plan for this registration by making sure all of your child's immunization records are up-to-date with your family doctor and providing the school with a copy of the state immunization certificate, including kindergarten shots. You will also need to bring a certified copy of your child's birth certificate and social security number. Once the school has the names of all the students planning to attend kindergarten in the 07/08 school year, you will be notified by mail as to a specific appointment time for your child's screening.
A Pre-school Child-Find screening for children birth to age 3 will be held on April 19 in the morning, in conjunction with kindergarten registration. If you have a concern about your child's development, please call the Dell Rapids Public School for an appointment. The screening will cover speech, vision and developmental responses appropriate for the age of the child.
