½ credit, ElectiveTopics covered are: careers in metal fabrication; welding preparation and safety procedures; properties of materials; project design and construction procedures; welding fundamentals; shielded metal arc welding (SMAW); metal inert gas (MIG) welding, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW); oxy-acetylene, brazing and torch cutting; plasma cutting; Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, also known as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Each student will be required to perform specific welds for grades and after the required welds are completed, they will design and construct metal projects. Each student will be responsible for providing material to construct their projects.
