1.0 credit, RequiredModern US History courses examine the history of the United States from the Civil War or Reconstruction era (some courses begin at a later period) through the present time. These courses typically include a historical review of political, military, scientific, and social developments. This course is designed to emphasize history from the time of 1860’s western expansion up until today. The major emphasis will be on the development of our nation into a world power playing an active role in world affairs today. We will study how things happened in American history, why they happened that way, and the life styles of the people that resulted. We will spend the most time on the 20th century.
