School Board
The Dell Rapids School Board is comprised of five members elected each year for overlapping terms. Each member serves a term for three years. As the governing body of the Dell Rapids School System, the primary role of the board is the legislation of school system policies that are executed by the superintendent and staff!
The school board meets on the second Monday of every month. All meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the Middle School/High School Distance Learning Room unless stated otherwise on the agenda. Agendas are available in the central office on the afternoon of the Friday before the scheduled meeting and online.
If there is an agenda item of interest to you or if you wish to address an item not on the agenda, call the superintendent at 428-5473 by the Friday before the meeting. Speaking time may be limited to three minutes.

Matt began his first term July 2010 and has grown up in Dell Rapids. Matt and his wife Sonya have four children in school: Bergen - 11th grade, Andrew - 8th grade, Lane – 5th grade, and Grace –4rd grade. Matt is a dairy farmer and serves on the Negotiations, Curriculum, and Transportation committees. He is also a delegate to the Prairie Lakes Educational Cooperative.
Troy has served on the school board since 2008. Troy and his wife Robin live in the district with their children Noah - 10th grade, and Luke - 8th grade. Troy farms and serves on the Finance/Budget, Negotiations, and Transportation committees.
Steve Stofferahn was elected to the Board in 2012. Steve is married to Julie and together they have 7 children Clay, Nicole, Jonathan, Thomas, Mikaela, Sydney- 12th grade, and Ellie - 3nd Grade. Steve works as VP of Lending for Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union and serves on the Technology, Wellness/Insurance, and Facilities committees.
Jody was elected to the Board in 2013. He and his wife Jill have four children, Cheyenne, Zane, Autumn, and Zebadiah 10th grade. Jody has been employed with the United States Federal Probation and Pretrial Office since 1993. He serves on the Technology,Policy, Wellness/Insurance and Curriculum committees.
Jeff’s first term on the Board began in July 2017. He and his wife, Emilie, have two children currently attending DRPS, Carter and Cate. Jeff is employed as the Administrative Officer for the United States Attorney’s Office – District of South Dakota. He serves on the Finance/Budget, Facilities, and Policy committees.
